In Nike’s long established history in the basketball shoe game that has cover more than 44 year, less than one percent of the athletes the brand endorses are given the privilege of a signature shoe range.
That stat may surprise most people and obviously this is not something Nike do not offer-up that often. However, Paul George has been bestowed this honor and which has seen him debut his first signature shoe – the PG1, which graced Australian shoes in January 2017.
The newly crowned member of the OKC trio becomes Nike Basketball’s fourth active signature athlete, and only the 21st basketball player to bestow this moniker in the brands history.
Fusing George’s smooth personality with his high performance and energetic attributes, the PG1 is carved to PG13’s two-way tempo on the court. The lightweight, low cut PG1 is a unqiue collaboration between Paul and designer Tony Hardman. The sleek yet simple but highly responsive shoe features a distinctive large forefoot strap anchored by the currently popular Flywire cable loops providing a dynamic, locked-in feel, while a under Zoom Air unit delivers low-profile, cushioned ride.
The shoe will retail in Australia at around $160.00 which is a very good value proposition.
To play the game like Paul George is to be equally at home on both sides of the ball, comfortable in any position or situation. The PG 1 is built with that in mind— with responsive cushioning, locked-down stability and plush, all-round comfort for ferocity from end to end.
