The 2017 version is not just another half-hearted featureless release, it’s change are considerable from past versions as it comes equipped with Nike’s brand unveiling of the “Nike React” cushioning. Every basketball player relies on footwork. The Super.FLy 2017 needed to be effective for all moves on the court.
In the pursuit for innovation, the shoe was injected with the soul of the brand Jordan DNA, delivering a blend of Jordan heritage and Nike’s unwavering obsession with basketball performance footwear.
For the Jordan Super.Fly 2017, the design team employed unique pressure maps from the Nike Sport Research Lab to identify several importatn and effective pressure points that informed the shoe’s multi-directional traction pattern. Whether it’s a spin move, cross-over or jump stop, the Super.Fly 2017 ticks all the boxes through the delivery of an athlete-informed geometry on the shoes outsole.
The basketball moves analysed were scaled from NBA star – Blake Griffin whose explosive game inspired the design and technology. This Analysis of Griffin’s movement and requirements lead to the overall design of the Super.Fly 2017.
Last but no least, the basketball shoe pays homage through Jordan inspired graphic hits from the Air Jordan IV and XI. An embedded “Flight” symbol on the medial ankle completes the design.
React Foam – Facilitating that equilibrium is a full-length Nike React core, simultaneously cushioning and offering energy return in one lightweight package.
By utilizing Nike React foam, the Super.Fly 2017 optimizes cushioning across every footfall, whether a lateral cut to the hoop or a full sprint to a breakaway dunk.
Shank Plate – A shank plate located between the Nike React foam and the outer sole adds rigidity and manages torque.
One Piece Upper – Comfort and response are also key characteristics of the form-fitting, one-piece upper. Allowing for a natural fit, regardless of lace tightness, this method of construction supports multiple athlete preferences and harnesses explosiveness.
