Firstly, this concept of combining both the old with the next gen of basketball footwear was intriguing to us here at Jump-st.com.au, as the balance of design, style over performance the was pivotal to the 31’s success, and let’s be honest Brand Jordan have not always got it right. Was the 31 going to slingshot Jordan Brand into the next decade, where performance characteristics are now more import than ever.
The shoe was developed over an 18-month period, the Michael himself inviting the design team over for a brief of their next shoe development. It is here, that Tony Kuerbis, the head designer of Brand Jordan while sitting in MJs La Ferrari, the seed was planted when he was overcome by the comfort of the seat, he wondered whether a shoe could feel same. While the foundations of this concept were being discussed, Michael’s pitch was clear: a clean-cut shoe that was futuristic in performance with a sleek style and design.
Ultimately, these design and performance elements only matter to one group of people – The end consumer.
